Traditional Rice:
Karuppukavuni Rice was once known as the "royal rice," consumed exclusively by kings in ancient China, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Thailand for its exceptional nutritional value. In India, people from regions like Manipur, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, and Mangalore often include Karuppukavuni rice in their traditional diet. Rich in fiber, antioxidants, and iron, this rice helps combat nutritional deficiencies and supports metabolic health.
During a wellness stay, traditional recipes made with Karuppukavuni rice, Mappillai Samba, Arubatham Kuruvai, and Illupai Poo Samba — in the form of porridge, sweet porridge, and kozhukattai — enhance the enriched dietary schedule. Notably, Illupai Poo Samba is highly recommended for addressing nervous debility and tremors.
Other traditional rice varieties used at Vela Siddha Village Resort include:
Athoor Kichali Samba: Improves immunity and strengthens the nervous system.
Arcot Kichali Samba:Supports the circulatory system and overall cardiovascular health.
Kattuyanam: Helps regulate blood sugar levels, making it ideal for managing diabetes.
By incorporating these ancient rice varieties, your wellness experience is deeply rooted in traditional wisdom and holistic nutrition
Traditional Recipes:
Organic Green Leaf Recipes:Green leafy vegetables, once an integral part of traditional diets, are now often overlooked in modern food trends. At Vela Siddha Wellness Resort, therapeutic green leaf recipes are included in the diet based on recommendations from Siddha and Naturopathy consultants:

Thuthuvalai Keerai: :Useful for low appetite to improve digestion.
Manathakkali Keerai:Relieves mouth ulcers and balances excess pitham.
Vetrilai Theneer:A herbal drink made with betel leaves, ginger, and palm sugar, promoting respiratory health, aiding digestion, and kindling the digestive fire.
Sundaikkai Thuvaiyal:Turkey berry (Sundaikkai) is well-known for its medicinal properties, especially its ability to treat gastritis, indigestion, and abdominal discomfort caused by flatulence. Vela Siddha doctors recommend including this recipe twice a week.
Venthaya Kanji:A traditional porridge made with fenugreek (venthayam), raw rice (pacharisi), and jaggery. According to Siddha pathology, pitha humor and indigestion are root causes of many diseases. Vela Siddha doctors recommend venthaya kanji for rejuvenation and gut health during the wellness stay.
